“You’re not everything
I thought I heard you say
That you would be.”
A Truism: The people who inspire us
Are not always the ones who love us,
And I have found
That I am not unique in that experience.

This one hits home for me. I’m not sure who Mom had in mind when she wrote this, but I know when I look at myself this is how I imagine a younger me would see me today. I suspect Mom’s message was about the way people sometimes look up to others who don’t really care about them at all. That’s definitely something I can relate with as well, but for me this one takes on a different meaning I suppose.
Thanks Mommy, Cya next week!
(If I can get my s^%# together…)
